Our story

An Olympia Landmark. A Family Tradition. Since 1938.

For generations, Wagner's European Bakery & Café has been part of Olympia's everyday life and its most cherished celebrations. With roots dating to 1938, our downtown bakery is a familiar gathering place for morning pastries, lunch with friends and coworkers, and cakes that bring families together.

Rudy and Linda Wagner built a lasting family tradition around European baking, treasured recipes, and a warm welcome. Today, their son Todd carries that tradition forward alongside a dedicated team. From our famous cinnamon bread and savory croissants to beautifully decorated celebration cakes, every item reflects the craft and care that keep generations of customers coming back.

We're proud to have earned repeated honors as Best Bakery in Western Washington and Best Bakery of the South Sound, along with recognition from the governor for our work supporting youth. That commitment extends beyond our bakery doors: with the generosity of our customers and community, we have helped raise more than $750,000 in donations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County.
